Las Cabras Restaurant on FitzRoy and the Restaurant on Thames / The Food Critic

Trying to move the text down so you don't have to read between the blog directions.

Friday a week ago, February 25th,  a bunch of the missionaries went to Thames 2476 Near Av. Santa Fe in Palermo. I just got the pictures from Diane Brunt. so I am adding them to this blog.  Nice buffet, good prices, good meat, not to far a walk.

Here's looking one way with Robin and Bill Ashton, then Me and Karen Casos, then Evelyn Candland

Here's the otherway with John Switzer, Paul and Ellen Gavin, Roger Brunt, Noel Raymond and Stuart Candland and some others.

Sorry, the picture is fuzzy, but you can see the variety of food and there is one whole area of just desserts.

The Chef at the Parilla was more than willing to be in the picture that Diane took.  Lots of meat, big pieces too. The really nice thing about this place was that for the first 5 in your group one person is free, for 10 2 people are free and for 15 3 people are free.  We missed the 15 by one person!

This Friday, March 1st, we, missionaries, went to Las Cabras Restaurant on  Fitz Roy 1795 near El Salvador. It's a great place for grilled food. All I can say is the plates were empty when we left.  It was Yummy!

They had the doors all open and it was very airy.  Served Yummy bread  WITH butter before dinner. Craig  Dalton talking with Karen Casos
We have often gotten bread or rolls served before dinner.  This was the first time that they actually served butter with the bread.  Very friendly staff.  Several of the waitress are members of the church.
Looking down the table. Paul Garvin, LaDee Raymond, Barb and Steve Zobell, on my side, the heads of Diane and  Roger Brunt
The menu had a lot of options.  Lots of steak, pork, papas.  Also several fish: Trout, Salmon and Pacu(not sure what this is, but it was under fish)  They serve Quesadillas that some have tried and loved.

Other side behind us. We went at 7pm, by 8:30 the place was packed with folks waiting.

Craig Dalton and his Lomo Grande: Michael Fuss to his left
Craig ordered a Lomo Grande which included mashed butternut squash, rice, a really big steak and a lot of fries.  Needless to say, he was still eating when the rest had finished.  There was a take-home box needed!

The Grill Area of Las Cabras
Really good food, good service, nice people.  Prices for the meals ran $47 - $70 on most dinners plus the cost of the beverages.   Karen and I had the Salmon and the Trout.  They were good, served on a bed of Argula and some other lettuce.  Others had chicken and steak.  Everybody was happy and well-fed.  If you take a group, be sure to tell them if the factura(bill) is all one or separate.  We had a bit of confusion about that as they weren't told until the beverage order had gone in.
