Catching the plane and our hotel in Iguazú

We spent a lot of time waiting at the Jorge Newberry Airport while they postponed our flight twice and then cancelled it. Our agent got us on a later flight.  We didn't find out until later that the plane never made it in because of storms in Cordoba.

Our Hotel is called La Cantera en la Selva - The Singer in the Jungle. And we really were in the jungle!

Great pool, but it was way too cold to swim.  Really humid and  in the 50's  most of the time we were there, but also REALLY quiet!  You know the jungle setting on your white noise machine... it was like that, bird songs and insects, but quiet ones!

There was a BBQ the last night we were there.  I figured we would be out by this pit, but we were enjoying the entertainment in the restaurant.  They brought a hibachi type thing with our variety platter of meat on it to our tables!
The entertainment was a guitarist and a guy playing an instrument that looked like a ukelele, sounded like a mandolin and had 10 strings.  They played Tango of course and other traditional Argentine type music.  It was amazing!

Not your grandma's Philodendron!  The leaves were huge!  A lot of them  grow out of  hollow spots on trees and you see their roots winding their way down the trunks to the ground. Sort of the jungle version of companion planting.  They don't hurt the host tree, just use it for support!

This was our Cabaña.  It was the Coati. 8 guests rooms in each Cabaña. Each Cabaña has the name of an animal, the Mono (monkey) was down one path and each guest's key had a carved animal to match their Cabaña's name

Took a couple of tries to catch a picture of this beautiful butterfly near the pool!

This is a Poinsettia...TREE!  Yep they grow them big here!

Wild Papaya...I think....

Did I mention that it was humid?  Fungi  and ferns growing on and near the walkway!

Next post will be the Trails along Iguazú Falls....
